Hairpin lace samples

I have set aside the broomstick lace for now. It is a real pain to work with! For now I'm doing the hairpin lace samples instead, and they are working out much better. I decided to try a ribbon version and I like it a lot.

Broomstick Lace Swatch in progress

Working on a swatch for my course while enjoying an evening with the Woolies.  Not happy with it. I expect I'll be doing a couple more before I get one good enough to send for evaluation.

Ready

The almost complete sample for my crochet course.  It is being deliberately left unfinished so that it can be mailed flat, and so my instructor can flip it inside out to check my handiwork.
I still have to write the pattern instructions out properly from my notes to send with it. After this, I have three more lessons to finish the course.

On Display

A couple of photos from the Beyond The Arts open house (see post below for more info). My daughter and I have a display downstairs in the studio area. Snacks, crafts and a registration table are set up upstairs.  Running to 5pm, so there's still time to drop by for a visit!

Open House

Okay, so this is really short notice, but here's an invitation to all the folks in or near Edmonton.

Beyond the Arts is having their Open House tomorrow.  The calendar is still being worked out, but I will be offering crochet classes.  They're going to be slightly different then the ones designed for Micheals, of course.  We're still working out dates for crochet classes, but you can check out the calendar to see the other great classes available  My daughter will also be teaching, too!  She'll be focusing on comic arts, from exploring the different mediums and tools available, including the different markers available, to story telling, to things like the anatomy of a fist fight. :-D

I hope to see some of you there!

Intermediate

Working on some cable stitch for my course. I need to plan an intermediate project with Aran stitches; knurl (done), diamond (blocking) and cable. I'll be throwing some front post cables into the project as well.

update:  Hmmm... on looking at the photo on the computer, I think I posted the wrong cell phone picture.  I discovered my phone has a macro setting, which turned out better.

When I have the front panel of this project assempled (it's going to be a sampler pillow case, and the back is going to be plain) I'll get some better photos.
